What is Mobilecartly

MobileCartly is an open source (free) Mobile Shopping Cart.  Sell your products across all mobile devices including iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.

Installation

Installing MobileCartly is fast and easy.

Simply,

  • Upload the ZIP file to your server ROOT DIRECTORY  (example: www.yoursite.com/) **DO NOT create a separate folder!
  • Unzip the file (Don’t worry, no loose files.  It will create a new folder)
  • Register/Log on to http://www.MobileCartly.com
  • Click “Add Store”
  • Enter “http://www.yourstore.com” (without the “mobilecartly” folder)
  • Once added to the list, click on the Store Name.
  • COPY your API KEY.
  • Visit http://www.yoursite.com/mobilecartly/  in your browser.
  • PASTE your API KEY in the field and click submit, then close the window.
  • Log back into http://www.MobileCartly.com or refresh the page.
  • That’s it..  You should see a green “Verified” label.
  • Click on your store in the Dashboard, then click “Edit store” to edit your store.

API Key

When you first install MobileCartly in the root of your directory, you should visit http://www.yoursite.com/mobilecartly.

You will be asked to enter in your API KEY, which you can get one (free) at http://www.MobileCartly.com by logging in and adding a new site.

The API KEY form is temporary; Once you add your API KEY and you site is verified, it will disappear.

The API KEY is not a crucial security feature..  it acts more like your store ID.

Store Name

The “Store” Setting changes your mobile store header name.

Footer

The “Footer” setting changes your footer text to anything you desire. (example: call us at: 1-800-123-4567)

Design

The “Design” setting allows you to change the base color of your store.  You are also able to change themes once purchased via “Import Products”.

Import Products

The “Import Products” allows you to do just that, import your products into your mobile store.

*All product uploads and product management are done by CSV Spreadsheet files using your favorite spreadsheet software.

We recommend using OpenOffice Open Source Software.  Its Free.

  • To get started, download the SAMPLE.CSV file.
  •  Import/Open the file in your spreadsheet software.  ( OpenOffice:  File>Open )

Next part is entering your products into the spreadsheet.

There are 5 main fields (first row) that should not be deleted, edited, or messed with. (Leave them alone!)

  1. category
  2. producttitle
  3. productprice
  4. productimage
  5. productdescription

 

category allows you to place your product in a category, subcategory, or child subcategory.

  • For categories with no subcategories, just enter in one category name ( example:  Shoes )
  • For categories with subcategories, enter “>” symbol in between ( example: Shoes>Mens )

Note:  Only use alpha-numeric characters

producttitle is the products title.  Not full description but a short one line title.

productprice is the products price.  Only enter a numerical value. No dollar signs, no commas; Period OK. (example:  15  or  25  or  15.50  or  25.50 ) ($1,000 would be WRONG)

 Note:  Only use numeric characters (and a period for cents)

productimage is the products image.  Enter just the image file name with extension. (example: NikeSneakers.jpg ).  Do not enter a full path.  *You will be able to upload a zip file with all of your product images under the “Product Images” Setting tab.

 Note:  Only use alpha-numeric characters (and a period for the extension)

productdescription is the products description.  You may enter as many characters as you desire.  Basic HTML tags may be used such as <br>, <p>, <hr>, <b>, <i>, and so on.  Avoid using CSS as it should only be used in templates.

TIP: If your products are uploading with errors, remove all quotes (“) and non Unicode characters from the spreadsheet by using the Find/Replace tool.

 Note:  Recommend using only alpha-numeric characters

IMPORTANT: When you have created a spreadsheet of your products, make sure you save the file to your computer as a CSV file


Upload the CSV file using the file browser in the Import Products tab.

If you have purchased a Theme/Template, you are able to choose the theme at this point using the dropdown menu. *If you did not purchase a theme, use the Default.

**Modification, addition, or deletion of products in your spreadsheet requires re-uploading of your CSV file.
